Stephen Adam is Principal Lecturer and leader of the undergraduate Politics area in the Department of Social and Political Studies at the University of Westminster, London. He is the author/rapporteur of a number of research projects and studies for international organisations including: the ‘Diploma Supplement Development Project’ (1999), ‘ECTS Extension Feasibility Project’ (2000), the ‘Transnational Education Projects – Western and Central/Eastern Europe’ (2001 and 2003), a background report on ‘Qualification Structures in European Higher Education’ for the first Danish ‘Bologna Seminar’ on qualifications frameworks (2003), ‘Learning Outcomes Background Report’ for the Edinburgh ‘Bologna’ Seminar (2004). He contributed to the Bologna Follow-Up Group working group book on qualifications frameworks ‘A Framework for Qualifications of the European Higher Education Area’ (2005) and the text on APEL ‘Recognising Experiential Learning –Practices in European Universities’ (2006). He was a member of the EC experts group that advised on the creation of a European Qualifications Framework (EQF) for lifelong learning. He is also a UK Bologna Promoter.
