D 1.3 Implementing Bologna: lessons learned and ongoing challenges for post 2010

Name D 1.3 Implementing Bologna: lessons learned and ongoing challenges for post 2010
Description Author: Lesley Wilson

The purpose of this article is to draw out lessons learned from the reforms of the last decade, and to identify ‘unfinished business’ and further issues to be addressed in the next phase of this major European higher education reform process. The article is based on seven case studies (all published in this same Handbook supplement) from universities across Europe, each of which analyses elements of the implementation of Bologna over the last decade in specific institutional and national contexts. The article also draws on the results of a survey carried out by the European University Association among its 34 national Rectors’ Conference members in early 2008. The intention is to contribute, from a university perspective, to discussions currently taking place on the future of the Bologna process after 2010.
